How to Play UNO Online
UNO is one of the world's most popular card games, and now you can play it online against real opponents in real time. Whether you are a first-time player or a seasoned veteran, this guide covers everything you need to know.
Objective
Be the first player to get rid of all your cards. Each round, players take turns matching a card from their hand to the card on top of the discard pile by color, number, or symbol. The first player to empty their hand wins the round and collects the pot.
The Deck
A standard UNO deck contains 108 cards spread across four colors (Red, Yellow, Green, Blue) plus special Black cards. For a full breakdown of every card, visit the Cards Catalog.
Number Cards (0-9)
76 cards total. One 0 and two each of 1-9 per color.
Action Cards
24 cards: Skip, Reverse, and Draw Two (2 each per color).
Wild Cards
4 Wild cards. Play on any card and choose the next color.
Wild Draw Four
4 Wild Draw Four cards. Choose a color and force the next player to draw 4.
Gameplay Flow
- 1
Deal
Each player receives 7 cards. The top card of the draw pile is flipped face-up to start the discard pile. If it is an action card, its effect applies immediately.
- 2
Take Turns
Play proceeds clockwise (unless reversed). On your turn you have 20 seconds to play a matching card or draw. Matching means the card shares the same color, number, or symbol as the top discard.
- 3
Draw a Card
If you have no playable card, press the Draw button to take one card from the draw pile. If that card is playable, you can play it right away. Otherwise your turn ends.
- 4
Call UNO
When you play your second-to-last card, you must press the UNO button to declare you have one card remaining. If another player catches you before you call it, you draw 2 penalty cards.
- 5
Win
The first player to play all their cards wins. The winner earns Coins or Stars from the betting pool, plus XP towards their level progression.
Special Card Effects
Skip (Block)
The next player loses their turn and play passes to the following player.
Reverse
Reverses the direction of play. In a two-player game, this acts the same as a Skip card.
Draw Two (+2)
The next player must draw 2 cards and lose their turn. Can only be played on a matching color or another Draw Two.
Wild
Play on any card regardless of color or number. You choose which color continues play.
Wild Draw Four (+4)
The most powerful card. Choose the next color and force the next player to draw 4 cards. You may only play this if you have no other card matching the current color.
In-Game Boosts
Boosts are consumable power-ups you can activate during a game to gain a tactical advantage. Use them wisely — they can turn the tide of a match. Learn more on the Strategies page.
